How do I know if I have hard water?

Three easy signs at home. White chalky marks on your taps, shower head or bathroom tiles. Soap and shampoo that will not lather properly no matter how much you use. Clothes that come out of the wash feeling stiff.

Hard water is common across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and large parts of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. If your hair feels rough right after washing, the water is worth checking before you change shampoo again.
How long before I see a change?

This is not an overnight change, and we would rather tell you that up front.

Mineral buildup forms slowly over weeks of washing, and it comes away the same way. Use it as your regular shampoo and give it three to four weeks before you judge the result.
Is it safe on coloured or treated hair?

Yes. The formula is sulphate free, which is the usual concern with coloured and chemically treated hair, because sulphates are what strip colour fastest.

Worth knowing: hard water minerals are also a reason colour looks dull and fades early. Removing the buildup helps the colour underneath show properly again.
Will it dry my hair out?

It is built to lift mineral deposit, not to strip your hair. It is sulphate free, so it cleans without the harsh detergents that cause that squeaky, stripped feeling.

If your hair is long, thick or chemically treated, follow with the Headtrixx Hard Water Repair Conditioner. Hard water also blocks conditioner from working, so many people find conditioner starts performing better once the buildup is gone.

What hard water actually does to your hair

Most tap water in Indian cities carries dissolved calcium and magnesium. Every time you wash, a little of it is left behind on the hair.

Over a few weeks that becomes a thin mineral film. It is the reason hair starts to feel rough even when it is clean, why colour looks flat, and why conditioner slowly stops making any difference. It cannot reach the hair through the deposit.

An ordinary shampoo is built to lift oil and dirt. It is not built to lift minerals, so the film stays and keeps building. That is why switching shampoo again and again never fixes it.
